How do I get an invite into exclusive parties at the Cannes Film Festival?
Ordinary Eyes asked:
I’m attending the Cannes Film Festival next week with my girlfriend. But Im not affiliated with any bigshot people or companies. As it will be my first time I really would like the opportunity to get into one ‘Exclusive’ party, with celebreties or good food and drink and so on! How does a complete newcomer do this?! Have you got any spare tickets? Can you arrange an invite?! thanks!
Ben Craig. Thanks for your answer. Do you have any firm info of companies I can contact?! thanks

We went last year, and one of the guys supplying bread for a big hot hollywood party started talking to us about his bread. So we just kept on talking to him, and we walked into the place behind him, through the service door. He thought we were already guests, and was trying to sell bread. Once inside, no one questioned who we were, free drinks and some awesome food, all night long.
Fake it til you make it!
You’re already there.
You could always get a plain jacket and block print bold letters on the back: SECURITY as they did last episode of King of Queens!! LOL
Getting into parties is tough if you don’t have any contacts because most people want to keep their guest lists under control (i.e. if you were organising a party where you’re paying for “good food and drink”, would you want tons of freeloaders coming along?).
If you in the film industry, your best bet is to get in contact with organisations you know of which might be throwing parties in Cannes and plead your case. E.g. “I’m a new filmmaker going to Cannes for the first time, letting me in will help me make new contacts etc”.
If you’re not in the film industry, then Cannes is pretty much off-limits other than for a bit of star-gazing on The Croisette.
