LOS ANGELES - Sharon Stone’s “karma” comment is having an instant effect on her movie-star status in China.

The 50-year-old actress suggested last week that the devastating May 12 earthquake in China could have been the result of bad karma over the government’s treatment of Tibet. That prompted the founder of one of China’s biggest cinema chains to say his company would not show her films in his theaters, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,” Stone said Thursday during a Cannes Film Festival red-carpet interview with Hong Kong’s Cable Entertainment News. “And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

She’s a moron, karma has nothing to do with natural disasters
I couldnt belive she said that karma is the reason no one deserve’s that thousand’sof people lost their live’s she need’s to think before she talk’s.
so according to her all the people [(innocent children)] who suffered in the earthquake ‘deserved’ it because the Tibetans were treated badly?
she should keep her mouth shut.
Although I thought her remark was delivered badly…who is to say that in certain instances things dont happen for a reason beyond our understanding. It is truly sad about the people of Tibet. It is also heartbreaking about the loss of life in china.
Im not sure I would call it Karma though….
Well whatever the issue is between China and Tibet, let’s just leave all of these behind and help those who suffer from the earthquakes. I mean, I’m sure there are many Chinese people who are innocent, right? You cannot judge all of them based on the action of some small group of people.
EDIT: And before anybody jumps at me and accusing me of being just as insensitve and ignorant as Sharon Stone, read my post carefully. I NEVER said that those Chinese people who died in the disaster were responsible for the China-Tibet issue. And I NEVER said that those people deserved to die. Whatever happened between China and Tibet are purely politics and had nothing to do with the people suffering from the disaster. That’s what I meant when I said, “I’m sure there are many Chinese people who are innocent, right?” as a statement to emphasize that the people dying in the disaster were the ones who were INNOCENT from the China-Tibet issue. We cannot judge the WHOLE Chinese people based on the action a small group of people towards Tibet. I’m sure the majority of Chinese citizens had nothing to do with the political issue between China and Tibet. I personally have nothing against China. Right now, I only feel sorry for those who suffered from the disaster and I pray to the Lord that they would get the strength they need to survive in such awful moments. Besides, I’m ALSO a fellow ASIAN so I couldn’t be possibly badmouthing China. Peace!
Rude and insensitive…just reinforces my belief that she is another stupid actress who thinks she provides deep insight.

Sharon Stone is just an old has-been third rate actress. She is doing anything to get some publicity. She is kind of like Madonna adopting that little kid. If Madonna really wanted to adopt him, she would have done it without publicity and fanfare. This is what happens to those old 50+ hags.
I think entirely too much is being made of the whole deal. she is just an actress and we all know how much they shoot theit mouths off.
I think she’s just pro-Tibetan independence, pro-Sichuan earthquake, anti-China but pro-China market. She is only among the millions who thinks this way, but she has attracted more attention because she’s a celebrity.
It’s pretty stupid. How would she feel if she heard someone say that the US deserved to be attacked on 9/11 because of our bad karma… I mean.. get out of here..
she thinks its unfair to be unkind to others? HELLO! does she even know what the hell is happening in iraq? i don’t see her bagging on OUR goverment, what the hell is she thinking, does she even know how the goverment in china works? i guess not, if thats all she came up with. she should leave politics alone and keep caking her make up on that face of hers. she should really speak for herself and actually think about what has happened there and compare with what she said. it’s actually pretty ironic. i hate these celebretards that spreads stupid hearsay quotes to the media to act like they actually know what their are talking about.
I found the remark deeply shocking and cruel.
I’m Taiwanese-American myself, and I was, and am, extremely angry at what she said. Saying it was “karma” is the same as saying all the schoolchildren who died deserve it, and I’m deeply hurt by that. The “lady” (I’m using the loosest sense of the word here) doesn’t have half a brain or a heart. I’m so angry I can’t even type straight.
